This page explains what information Fairtold collects, what we do with it, and — just as importantly — what we don't do. We've written it in plain English on purpose. If anything here is unclear, email us at hello@fairtold.com and a real person will explain it.
The short version
- We collect the minimum we need to do your website work: your name, your email, and — if you're a customer — the login for your hosting account.
- Your hosting login lives in an encrypted password manager and is used only for work you've asked us to do.
- This website sets no analytics cookies and doesn't track you.
- We don't sell your information. To anyone. Ever.
What we collect, and why
If you email us or sign up: your name, email address, and whatever you tell us about your website. We need this to reply to you and to do the work.
If you become a customer: the login credentials for your existing hosting account, because that's how we manage your site. More on how we protect those below.
Billing: our payment processor handles your card details. We never see or store your full card number.
How we handle your hosting login
This is the most sensitive thing you trust us with, so here's exactly how it works:
- Your login is stored in an encrypted password manager — not in a spreadsheet, not in an email, not on a sticky note.
- We use it only for work you've requested. We don't poke around your account for any other reason.
- You can revoke our access at any time by changing your password. It's your account; you hold the keys.
- If you cancel, we delete your credentials and send you written confirmation that we've done so.
The hosting-compatibility checker
Our website has a tool that checks whether we can work with your hosting. It performs DNS lookups directly in your browser and sends nothing to Fairtold. We don't see what you type into it, and we don't log it. It's a lookup that happens on your machine, not ours.
Cookies and tracking
The Fairtold website sets no analytics cookies. We don't run ad trackers, we don't build a profile of you, and we don't watch what you do after you leave.
Who we share information with
Nobody, with two boring exceptions: our payment processor (to charge your card, if you're a paying customer) and if the law compels us. We don't sell, rent, or trade your information.
How long we keep things
Emails and account details: for as long as you're a customer, plus whatever we need to keep for tax and bookkeeping. Hosting credentials: deleted when you cancel, with written confirmation. Want something deleted sooner? Ask.
Your choices
You can ask us at any time what information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email hello@fairtold.com and we'll handle it — no forms, no runaround.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we'll update the date at the top and, if you're a customer, tell you directly. We won't quietly swap in something worse.
